1. Self-Defense Odor
What they do: When stink bugs feel threatened or are crushed, they release an odor that is described as ‘sharp, cilantro-like.’ They have what are called ‘stink glands’ in between their first and second pair of legs.

2. Stink Bugs Cannot Bite
What they do: Stink bugs do not bite, but you can be scratched by their sharp exoskeleton edges.

3. Mating Season is Now
What they do: Stink bugs start mating season in May right after they come out of hibernation. Females can lay up to 400 eggs at a time which hatch after 3 to 7 days.

4. They Do Not Breed in Your Home
What they do: Since stink bugs do not start breeding until May, they spend most of their time breeding outside because of the warmer weather.
Why is it important to know: Since more stink bugs breed in warmer weather, you might also find stink bugs in your home in the fall because that is when they find warmth which could be your home.
5. They Like the Light
What they do: Stink bugs are attracted to light. This is often times the reason they come into homes and is often times the way stink bugs are able to be trapped.
Why is it important to know: When it is dark outside, stink bugs may follow the light in your home when you open the door. Make sure you’re not letting any stray bugs inside.
6. Keep Stink Bugs Away From Small Children
What they do: Stink bugs are not poisonous to humans, however, if crushed, they often release a liquid that has a very foul taste and odor. If swallowed, it can cause stomach upset, vomiting and mouth irritation.
Why is it important to know: Small children sometimes put random things in their mouths, and it is important to know the repercussions if this happens. Try to keep stink bugs away from your children.
7. Stink Bugs Can Get in Your Home and Not Just Through the Doors
